The Club was founded around 2003/04 by the current Chairman Bruce. At the time Avebury & District Youth Football Club was a single team playing in the Mid Wilts League.
They tasted League success gaining both a promotion and winning a fair play trophy.
Since those early days the Club has grown bigger however it maintains the values that Bruce set out back in the early days of the Club.
Brief Club History
- 2003/04 season Avebury & District Youth Football Club was founded
- 2003/04 had the nickname the “Oranges” as they played in distinctive orange and black colours
- 2004-2010 stayed as a single team Club gaining a promotion in the Mid Wilts League
- 2010/11 season introduced 4-6 year age group training
2011/12 season
- Entered an Under 14 team into the North Wiltshire League
- Formed Under 7, 9, 11 and 12 teams
- Started the Kennet Valley Soccer Stars – training for ages 4-6
- Applied for and achieved Charter Standard status
- Grew the coaching team & U9 & U7 teams started playing friendly matches
- Changed the Club nickname to “The Lions“
- Gained corporate sponsorship
2012/13 season
- Under 10 & Under 15 sides entered to North Wilts League
- Under 8 side continue with planned friendly matches for the season
- Under 7 team started
- Mixed age Under 12 team started
- Additional FA Level 1 & 2 coaches brought on board
- Regular committee meetings held to support running the Club
- FA Premier League Players sponsorship awarded
- Goal post grant awarded
- Respect Barrier grant awarded
- Charter Standard health check passed
